Los Muertos video slot review (Wazdan)
November 25, 2018 | Category: new-games
We are proud to present a new title in our portfolio: Los Muertos, a brand-new video slot by Wazdan. Time to review this game and explain why this is the one to celebrate your spooky days with!
Origin of Los Muertos
The video slot’s name Los Muertos is derived from an ancient Mexican tradition, called Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). On this day, the Mexicans (especially in the Central and South regions) honor their deceased loved ones. Part of the ceremony is building an altar, using ‘calaveras’ (decorative skulls), Aztec marigold (a kind of plant), and the favorite food and drinks of the deceased. Before Mexico was colonized by the Spanish, this day was celebrated at the beginning of summer. After the colonization, the celebration was moved to October 31st, November 1st, and November 2nd to coincide with the Christian All Saints' Eve, All Saints' Day, and All Souls' Day. This makes Los Muertos the perfect exotic addition to our Halloween-spirited games!
About Los Muertos
The visuals in this Wazdan video slot leave no doubt about the theme of the game. Although the faces of the characters flanking the 5-reel, 4-row grid may look spooky, the happy music provides a Latin and strangely fitting, upbeat atmosphere. You can feel that, although the party has a macabre feel to it, it’s still a happy, joyous festivity. You truly become part of the Mexican tradition while the reels spin for hefty wins on the 40 bet lines!
Los Muertos video slot features
Of course, wins of up to 1,650 coins per line on 40 bet lines sound awesome. But there is a lot more to Los Muertos than just big wins. The game is packed with features that will make you want to celebrate Mexican style.
Giant symbols and Giant Wilds
Apart from regular tiles, the game grid can also feature Big and even Giant symbols. These symbols cover a 2x2 or even 3x3 space on the reels. Not only do they look amazing, they can help you score wins more easily. Especially the Giant Wild, a 3x3 symbol in the middle reels that can represent any symbol (except a Giant Bonus symbol), which completes a winning combo!
Giant Bonus symbol and Bonus Slot
Things get particularly interesting when the Giant Bonus symbol, a lady dressed for the occasion, appears on the reels of this Wazdan video slot. She’s attractive, yet a bit scary… until she turns into a Bonus Slot! The Bonus Slot can be a 3, 6, or 9-tile grid on the existing reels of the main game, but with its own Free Spins symbols, Scatter symbols, Extra Spin symbols, and 3 different Rose symbols. The Rose symbols act as up to x5 Multipliers, so make sure you score those!
Did you catch the sombrero-wearing mariachi in the Bonus game or the 3, 4, or 5 Scatter symbols in the main game? Los Muertos will now take you to a quiet street, where you can play the Free Spins. The Giant Wild symbol to look out for is now a smiling man, while a friendly man with a sombrero and a beautiful Mexican lady cheer you on for wins.
Adjustable volatility level
A welcome feature Wazdan applies more and more to its video slots is also seen on Los Muertos: adjustable volatility. We’ve already seen this on Wazdan games such as Great Book of Magic Deluxe and Magic Stars 3. Instead of having to pick a game based on the size and frequency of wins, you can choose if you want big wins that are a bit further apart (high volatility), mostly smaller wins that occur more often (low volatility), or a bit of both (medium volatility). No longer do you have to steer clear of a video slot because you don’t like the way it dishes out wins. The game adjusts to your likes instead of the other way around!
